What we collect, and why

Open Shelf is a small directory. We collect only what our forms ask for.

Newsletter signup

When you subscribe to Now Buying we store your email address, the option you picked (brand / maker, shop, or just browsing), the page you signed up from, and the country your request came from (worked out by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, from your connection). If you vote for a new city, we also store the city you typed. We do not store your IP address.

Shop listing requests

When you ask us to list a shop we store what you type into that form (shop name, neighborhood, website, submissions link, pitch method, terms, notes and your email) and the page you sent it from.

How we use it

Only to run Open Shelf and the Now Buying newsletter: sending the newsletter, reviewing and publishing listings, choosing which cities to add, and understanding which pages people sign up from. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers or other companies. It's stored with Cloudflare, which hosts this site.

Questions or removal

To ask what we hold about you or have it deleted, send us a note through the form on the Get your shop listed page: put “Privacy request” as the shop name and your request in the notes, using the email address you signed up with.

Now Buying ยท the newsletter

Which independent shops are open to new brands this week.

New listings in New York and Los Angeles (and the next cities as we add them), calls that just closed, and pitch notes from the other side of the counter. One short email, weekly.
